Our Saturday mornings are usually pretty packed with soccer games, but whenever we get a break in games or decide to wake up a little extra early we love to head to our local Farmers Market. It’s a great way for our family to spend some quality time together and to encourage our kids to try new fruits and veggies. Loaded up with a bounty of fresh local produce we’re going to need a way to get it all home. Which is why I decided to make this fun DIY Market Fresh Tote to help us get all our goodies home.
When we hit up the local farmers market we like to give each of our kids $5 so they can pick out their favorites or be adventurous and try something new. I usually end up with arm fulls of fruits and veggies because I never remember to take a bag. With this cute little tote now I can easily follow the kids around as they dart from one vendor to the other adding their favorites…well that is if I can just remember to take the tote with me!
The easy part is making the tote. All you need are a few supplies and about 30 minutes to complete it.
Supplies:
- Canvas Tote Bag
- DecoArt Chalky Finish Paint
- Paint Brush
- Template Design or Stencils
I started by creating a template for my Market Fresh lettering. I used my Cricut to create a simple template with the words and a fun radish graphic. I cut it out in vinyl so that I could easily adhere it to my tote. If you don’t have a cutting machine you can still use stencils to create the same effect.
Next, I picked one of my favorite Chalky Finish paint colors, Legacy and begin painting my tote.
Let the paint dry for 5 minutes before removing the template to reveal the completed design.
That’s it, now you’re ready to load up on local market fresh goodies.
What’s your favorite thing to buy at the Farmers Market?
