Welcome, step into my laboratory won’t you?!? October, one of my favorite times of the year, is finally here and I’m kicking things off with a Mad Scientist Halloween Party. I’ve teamed up with World Market to showcase their 2014 Halloween Decor and to help host The World Market’s Book of Life Sweepstakes.
If you’re planning a party this month to celebrate Halloween why not go crazy with a Mad Scientist party. It’s an easy theme that works well for both kids and adults, and with just a few simple decorations you can create a spooky Mad Scientist laboratory drink station. I decided to focus on creating a drink station for guest to mix their own favorite concoctions, whether you are having an adults only party or including the kids I’ll show you two different ways to make sure everyone has a great time!
I made a trip to World Market and walked out with some fabulous find for my lab, including these glass lab candle holders which inspired my Mad Scientist party theme. I thought they were cool as candle holders and then I realized you can take out the insert and use them for liquid too, genius! Fill them up with your favorite drink and add a chunk of dry ice to get that spooky bubbly effect.
For the adults only drink station I used the half gallon glass storage jar for Poison Punch (sangria) and added an apothecary label. World Market also has a fantastic collection of wine, including some fun Halloween themed bottles so I picked up a few of those to serve as well.
A black candelabra, skeleton skull, black crows and a few specimens like the frog skeleton and a white wind up mouse were just what the mad scientist needs to feel right at home in the lab.
Want your Mad Scientist party to be more kid friendly? Just swap out a few items for an appropriate and fun Halloween party the kids will love.
I found these mini plastic science beakers and filled them with green Kool-aid and added a monster eye gummy. Pour extra in the glass lab jars so kids can refill when they get thirsty.
Mix things up and serve Monster Gut Punch, a delicious concoction the kids will have fun creating. I used the gallon glass storage jar for the monster guts (fruit punch) which makes it easy for little guest to ladle out punch rather than trying to pour from bulky bottles into the lab containers.
Every great mad scientist would have test tubes full of specimens and ours just happen to be filled with Halloween candy. We sprinkled the spider eggs (Nerds candy) on cupcakes, because even mad scientist love a sweet treat!
Our spooky drink lab is equipped with everything you’ll need to keep your victims, er I mean guest, well hydrated and having fun throughout the party. Speaking of fun, the new film The Book of Life is in theaters October 17th, an animated movie of a Romeo and Juliet-inspired love story set during a Day of the Dead celebration: Manolo (Channing) is a young matador who wants to shed the expectations of his family to follow his dreams of being a musician and his best friend, Joaquin (Diego), is the successful pride of the town. They compete for the heart of Maria (Zoe). In order to win Maria’s heart and save her life, Manolo must face his greatest fears and follow his heart to rewrite his destiny.
To celebrate the movie’s release, World Market is giving away:
