I recently hosted my very first Friendsgiving dinner and created a special cocktail and party favor for each guest. To save me time and a little money, the signature drink was served in copper mugs that each guest took home. With all the holiday entertaining coming up I decided to give that signature drink a makeover and create these delicious Holiday Cranberry Moscow Mules.
I love the crisp and refreshing taste of Moscow Mules, but I wanted to bring in a little flavor of the season.
Each place setting had a copper mug, and a bottle of cranberry syrup and ginger beer. The mugs were pre-filled with crushed ice, fresh cranberries, and fresh orange slices. The sweet oranges complimented the bitter cranberries and tart ginger beer.
To make your own cranberry Moscow Mules, you will need:
Moscow Mule Mugs
Copper Pitcher
Ginger Beer
Vodka
Cranberry Syrup
Sliced Oranges
Fresh Cranberries
Crushed Ice
Make Cranberry Syrup:
1 Cup of Sugar
1 Cup of Water
1.5 Cups Fresh Cranberries
1/2 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/2 Orange, squeezed
Add all syrup ingredients to a heavy saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and allow to simmer for about 10-15 minutes, until cranberries start to pop. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Once cool, strain cranberries pour syrup into a clean glass jar. I filled small glass bottles with the syrup and sent my guests home with their copper mugs, a single-serve bottle of ginger beer, and a minibar size bottle of our favorite vodka.
I prepared a large pitcher of our drink, but only added half the ginger beer so that I could top off the drinks with fresh ginger beer when our guests arrived and wanted refills.
This is the perfect holiday drink, I know I’ll be enjoying it all season long!
