It’s pumpkin season and I can’t wait to decorate my house with them, bake yummy pumpkin treats and visit the pumpkin patch with my family. I’m utterly smitten with this time of year. I love the cool crisp air, the warm cozy colors and the delicious smells of autumn. This year I wanted to add fresh life and color to my fall decor with a DIY Succulent Pumpkin Planter.
Succulents planted in pumpkins aren’t anything new, just search Pinterest and you’ll find tons of gorgeous ideas. However, I wanted something that would last throughout the entire fall season and decided to create my own DIY Succulent Pumpkin Planter using a craft pumpkin from Michaels and fake succulent plants. Unlike using the real thing, you don’t have to worry about watering plants or rotting pumpkins.
With a few supplies and these easy steps you can transform mini craft pumpkins into a gorgeous planter that will look great in your home throughout the entire fall season.
- Craft Pumpkin
- Faux Succulent Plants
- Natural Filler
- Knife
- Rocks
Start by using the knife to cut the top off the craft pumpkin. Remove the top of the pumpkin and discard it.
Place a few rocks in the bottom of the pumpkin to give it stability.
Next, add the natural filler to the bottom of the pumpkin. You want to build a base so you can easily “plant” your succulents.
Now it’s time to start adding your succulents to the pumpkin vase.
Keep adding succulents until your pumpkin vase is full and you have the desired look you want.
That’s all there is too it, now you have a gorgeous DIY Succulent Pumpkin Planter to display. I set mine on an open book and surrounded it with a few smaller pumpkins for a simple and beautiful fall vignette.
