How to Make a DIY Speckled Easter Egg Garland
First, you will need the following materials to complete this project.
- Plastic Easter Eggs
- Light Blue acrylic paint
- Sea Foam Green acrylic paint
- Black, Brown, and Gold acrylic paint
- Paintbrushes
- Twine
- Drill and 5/64 Drill Bit
Step 1: Prepare Your Workspace
This is a quick and easy project, but it can get a little messy so you will want to prepare your workspace. Lay down a drop cloth or newspaper to protect your table or work surface, and make sure you have all your materials within reach.
Step 2: Paint the Eggs
Open all the plastic Easter eggs and begin painting them with your base paint colors. Let the paint dry and then paint a second coat on the eggs.
Step 3: Add Speckles
Use a stiff paintbrush and start splattering brown paint randomly on the eggs. Make sure you don’t get too much paint on your paintbrush, or you will end up with large spatters instead of small speckles.
Repeat this same step with the gold and white paint, adding more texture and color to your eggs.
Step 4: Attach the Eggs to the Garland
Once the paint is dry, close up all of your Easter eggs. Use a 5/64 drill bit to drill small holes in both the bottom and top of the egg.
Once all of your holes have been drilled, open your eggs back up and thread the twine from the bottom, through the middle, and back out the top. Close the egg back up and continue stringing all of your eggs on the twine, alternating colors and sizes.
This pretty speckled Easter egg garland is a fun way to spruce up your home just in time or spring.
