I am SO excited for Spring. I live in Central Florida, and Spring weather is absolutely perfect. It’s not too hot or humid, and you can enjoy spending time outside without being carried away by giant mosquitos. Florida Spring is the perfect time to start work on a summer garden, whether it be a flower or herb garden, and these DIY seed bombs are a fun way to welcome spring!
I wanted to make something to share with my friends and family to celebrate the season. I thought about passing out some flowers in sweet little terra cotta pots, but I decided to wait until May Day for that. Instead of passing out flowers, I got the kids together and we made some fun butterfly seed pods.
Make Seed Pods:
These are SUPER easy to make, and only require a few ingredients. They can be made into just about any shape or size, and can even be made into paper sheets! Seed pods do take several days to fully dry, so keep that in mind if you want to make them to use as party or wedding favors.
Flower Seed Pod Supplies:
Paper {I used old tissue paper and some paper towel tubes to make them a little more sturdy}
Seeds
Water
Optional: Silicone Mold
Step 1:
Cut paper into 1″ square pieces.
Step 2:
Pour paper squares with 8-12 oz of water into a blender.
Step 3:
Blend until you have paper pulp. {It’s almost the consistency of a smoothie}
Step 4:
Strain the water from the paper, then mix in seeds.
Step 5:
Add paper and seed mixture into a mold or roll into a ball. Dab the top of the mold with a towel to soak up some of the excess moisture.
Step 6:
Allow to dry fully for 24-48 hrs. Remove the seed pods from the molds and package in small boxes, bags, or even in small terra cotta pots.
Share with friends and family to celebrate the arrival of Spring!
