The kids are officially on summer break and the next 3 months our days will be spent lounging by the pool. My kids are like little fish and can spend all day at the pool, which means I need to be super prepared before I leave the house to head to the pool. I spotted these cute pineapple totes at Michaels and decided to customize one to create this super cute DIY Pineapple Pool Bag to haul all of my sunscreen, snacks and pool essentials to the pool.
These cute bags were in the bargain section at Michael’s and I bought both the tote and the zipper pouch for less than $10. I picked up a roll of hot pink iron-on vinyl and headed home to create these cute and easy bags. In less than 10 minutes I had a custom pool bag and you can too.
What You Will Need:
- Striped Pineapple Tote
- Striped Pineapple Zipper Pouch
- Hot Pink Heat Transfer Vinyl
- Cricut Explore Air 2
- Lia Tropical Aloha Cut File
- Iron
Step 1:
Open Cricut Design Space to create your designs for this project. I used the Lia Tropical Aloha cut file to create the zipper pouch. I measured the bag and sized the graphic to 8″ wide.
Step 2:
Once the image was cut I cut out the “O” and positioned the remaining letters on the bag to spell Aloha with the pineapple as the “O.”
Step 3:
Place a piece of cloth in the inside of the bag and use the iron and firmly hold the iron in place for 10-15 seconds to adhere the image to the zipper pouch.
Step 4:
Now, it’s time to give the larger tote a makeover. These totes are so cute I imaging lots of people are going to have them, and I didn’t want my cute bag getting mixed up with anyone else’s. So, of course I added a monogram to my bag. Just follow the same steps to cut and iron on the monogram. Important Tip: Make sure you put a cloth inside the bag before ironing your monogram on, or you will ruin the bag and melt the lining.
Step 5:
Pack your cute pool bags with summer essentials like sunglasses, towels, snacks, a good book and head to the pool for some fun in the sun!
I have a feeling everyone at the pool is going to be jealous of my super cute DIY Pineapple Pool Bag. Good thing it’s monogrammed, right?! I can’t wait to spend the summer making memories with my kiddos at the pool.
