Supplies
- White Zipper Bag or White Clutch
- DecoArt SoSoft in Pineapple, Cadmium Yellow Hue, Bright Yellow
- Paint Palette
- Paint Brush
- Painters Tape
- Orange Yarn
- Green Felt
- Scissors
- Ruler
Start by ironing your white zipper bag to make sure it is nice and smooth before you start painting. Next, lay down strips of painter’s tape horizontally along the bag.
Use the lightest yellow SoSoft paint, Pineapple. Lightly brush the paint onto the surface in between the painter’s tape. Remove the tape to reveal perfect stripes.
Next, apply painter’s tape in the opposite direction and paint with the medium shade of paint, Cadmium Yellow Hue. After you’ve painted the stripes, remove the strips of tape.
To finish the gingham pattern, use the darkest shade, Bright Yellow and paint a square on each segment where the light and medium shades overlap. This area should be a little darker than the rest since it is where the two shades of yellow intersect.
While the paint is drying, use the orange yard to make a medium and small size pom-pom, be sure to leave a long enough string that you can tie it to the zipper. Just a note, you will need to allow the paint to dry for 48-72 hours before using.
Cut out a small leaf shape from the green felt and glue it onto the top of the larger orange pom-pom. Attach the yarn tassels to the zipper of your cute new DIY gingham clutch.
That’s it, easy peasy, lemon squeezy! This cute summer clutch is the perfect compliment to your summer wardrobe, and can you believe it this cute little accessory cost less than $5!
