Have you every had an idea or wanted to create something, but you weren’t sure where to start? I love learning new crafting skills and discovering new ways to make one of a kind projects, like this Distressed Wooden Chalkboard for my home. But, sometimes my creative brain gets overloaded and I have no idea where to start, or what the best way to achieve a particular look, or what I even want for that matter, which is why I love Creativebug!
If you haven’t heard of Creativebug yet, they are an online classroom dedicated to making crafting a fun, satisfying, and easy part of your daily life. I met the Creativebug team this summer at the Michaels Makers Summit and even had the opportunity to take some of their popular classes while I was there, and I have been obsessed ever since!
I got all my Christmas decorations out and the other night while I was sitting in front of the fire place I decided it needed a little something extra. I loved the idea of having a chalkboard frame on the mantle that I could easily change out the sentiment, but everything I found looked too shiny and new for my rustic winter wonderland decor. I found the Distressed Wooden Chalkboard class and knew it would be the perfect addition to my Christmas decor. I took the 15 minute class, learned how to give a brand new wooden frame a beautiful rustic patina and completed the project with a beautiful message written in chalk.
I love that this rustic looking chalkboard sign can change with the seasons and I can add my own custom chalk graphic. To learn how to create your own Distressed Wooden Chalkboard, head over to the Creativebug site and check out their classes.
They actually have a great holiday promotion you may be interested in. With the Give and Get promotion you buy a year subscription and get a year free! So it’s a present for you and someone else! I love the idea of sharing the joy of making and gifting creative things with the makers in my life, I couldn’t think of a more perfect gift.
