Are you like me and struggle to come up with easy, healthy and delicious breakfasts? Maybe it’s because I don’t like mornings much or I’m too busy rushing to get the kids off to school and my work day started, but breakfast is one of those meals I struggle with. Honestly, most mornings I skip breakfast, but in an effort to focus more on living a healthy life I’m changing that. I’m focusing on starting my mornings off right with healthy meal like my new favorite, a Breakfast Banana Split.
Buying food for your family shouldn’t be expensive or time consuming. This is one of those breakfasts that both you and your kids will love! And most importantly it is easy to make with natural and organic items, which means you can feel good about what you’re serving your family. Plus, it won’t take you any more time to create this tasty meal than it does to warm up a bowl of oatmeal, so you don’t have to worry about losing precious time on those busy mornings.
I love the new Natural Foods Department at my local Kroger, they have a great variety of refrigerated and frozen foods as well as snacks, gluten-free, wheat-free and dairy-free products to help my family focus on our goal of starting our morning off with a healthy breakfast. And right now when you purchase any 3 participating products, Silk, Kashi, or Noosa items you get 1 FREE dozen Simple Truth (Cage-Free) Eggs. Redemption happens at the register when the 3 items are scanned and your loyalty card must be used.
To make your Breakfast Banana Split here’s what you’ll need:
- Bananas
- Strawberries, blueberries or your favorite fresh fruit
- Noosa Yogurt, I used coconut and strawberry rhubarb
- Kashi Go Lean Cinnamon Crunch
- Simple Truth Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt
First, start by slicing your banana in half and put it in a bowl.
Next, just like you would on a banana split add three scoops of the Noosa Yogurt. I used the coconut and strawberry rhubarb flavors and loved how rich and creamy they were.
Sprinkle the fresh fruit on top of the yogurt. Next, add a little bit of crunch to your banana split by sprinkling a handful of Kashi Go Lean Cinnamon Crunch cereal on top.
Because I can’t imagine a banana split without chocolate I added a tiny bit of shaved dark chocolate to sweeten things up. I absolutely love how it added just the perfect amount of sweetness and brought all the flavors together, just like a real banana split!
That’s it, pour a glass of Silk soy milk and get ready to dig in to your breakfast banana split! My kids and I loved this breakfast and I can see this being a new favorite in our house.
