The start of a new school year is upon us and soon my kiddos will be back in school and not nestled under my protective wing of motherhood. Don’t get me wrong, I can’t wait for them to soar, but sometimes I’m overcome with anxiety and wonder “Will they make friends?” “Will they be a good friend?” “Are they going to succeed?” And then I remember that they are destined for great things…go and Be Awesome little ones!
While thinking of projects for our Cricut Design Space Star challenge I thought it would be fun to make my daughter a new Be Awesome t-shirt to start back to school. A sparkly little reminder for her to know that she can be an awesome friend, an awesome student, an awesome dreamer…she is and should Be Awesome!
Here are the details for another easy project with the Cricut Explore that you will love!
Supplies:
- White T-shirt
- Cricut Explore
- Cricut cutting mat
- Cricut gold iron-on vinyl
- iron
I started by creating a simple design in the Cricut Design Space. I love that they have a variety of different canvases for you to create you projects on. It really helps a visual person like me figure out exactly what it will look like on the actual product.
Once I was happy with my design I cut out the gold iron-on vinyl. You need to make sure you select “mirror” image when you are cutting text for iron-on images so that it will cut properly.
Remove the negative Cricut iron-on film, leaving only the desired design on the sticky liner. Place the weeded image (that’s your Be Awesome design), liner side up on your t-shirt. Helpful Hint: Make sure your t-shirt is ironed and smooth before placing your design on it.
Next, apply medium pressure to the design for 25-30 seconds. Then flip it over and apply medium pressure to the back of the design for an additional 25-30 seconds. Check to make sure the design stuck, reheat if necessary, and then peel away the lining.
There you have it a sparkly Be Awesome t-shirt with a touch of trendy geometric flare! I can’t wait to send my oldest daughter back to school full of confidence and with a little bit of sparkle in her new BE AWESOME t-shirt!
What’s your favorite saying you’d love to see on a custom t-shirt?
