Celebrating Valentine’s Day with Simple Family Traditions
I love entertaining and hosting parties, but nothing compares to celebrating life’s little moments with my kids. From our annual back-to-school breakfast to baking the same cookies every Christmas, those small traditions mean everything. Their excitement is contagious—and it reminds me that the simplest moments often become the most meaningful.
One of our favorite traditions is celebrating upcoming holidays with a special after-school surprise. My kids love coming home to a festive treat waiting for them, and I love the quality time it gives us to slow down and connect.

Valentine's Day Cupid Float
Ingredients
- 1 scoop Vanilla ice cream
- 8 oz Cherry soda
- 1 piece Red licorice
Instructions
- Add a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream to a drinking cup or mug.
- Fill the cup with cherry soda.
- Create an arrow using a striped paper straw and gold cardstock. Use a glue dot to attach the arrow to the back of the cup.
- Add a colorful paper straw to your float or you can cut the ends off of 1 strand of red licorice, and then place it into the cup to use as a straw.
- Drink and enjoy!
Here's a Tip:
- To keep the foam to a minimum, I pour the cherry soda in the cup first and then add the ice cream. If you pour the soda on top of the ice cream, then you get a lot more foam.
