Upcycle products from around your house to create a quick and easy Valentine’s Day Box
Pretty Little Piggy Valentine’s Day Box
This pretty little piggy was inspired by my mom. When I was telling her about my idea to create a post with fun ways to collect valentines she fondly recalled her mom making some of the best “boxes.” One of her favorites was a pink little piggy made from a recycled Clorox Bleach bottle.
I loved the idea of upcycling items from around the house and decided to recreate my own version of the pink little piggy Valentine’s Day box.
Piggy Valentine Box Supplies
- Empty Clorox bottle
- Egg carton
- Pink spray paint
- 4 craft corks
- Pipe cleaner
- Pink craft foam
- Googly eyes
- Hot glue
1. Spray paint your (clean & dry) Clorox bottle and corks pink.
2. Once the bottle is dry take a knife and carefully cut a slit in the top, making sure it is wide enough to slip Valentine’s in.
3. Cut out and spray paint (if they aren’t already white) the egg cartons. Hot glue googly eyes to the center.
4. Cut out ears from the pink foam, put a dab of hot glue at the bottom center and pinch closed. Hot glue the ears on to the top of the bottle.
5. Cut out a pink heart from the pink craft foam, add details with a permanent marker. Hot glue to the cap of the bottle for the snout.
6. Curl your pipe cleaner for the tail and hot glue to the back of the bottle. Add a bow if desired.
7. Hot glue the corks to the bottom of the bottle.
8. Oink! Now you have a pretty little piggy to keep those heartfelt love letters.
Both of these projects are easy to make, you could even include your kids and have them help create their very own Valentine’s Box. I upcycled items from around my house and spent $0 to make these.

So adorable! But how would you get the valentines out to read from the piggy? I guess you would perform surgery on the underside! LOL
Thanks Bonnie and you bring up a good point! I guess I better go back and add a step so you can get those sweet love notes out. 😉

going on now-Sunday….I just love your site….Have a wonderful weekend!
Oh my word. What cute ideas! Thanks so much for linking up to my Saturday 7 Party tonight!
I am making a Love Monster for my son's school Valentine box but I have a question for you…I have done several coats of red paint on the Kleenex box but I can't seem to get the designs on the box to disappear. How did you get such good paint coverage on your boxes? It's driving me nuts that I can see through the paint but I don't see that on your boxes so what am I doing wrong?
Hi Laura, I used Krylon paint, which I've found has a little better coverage than some of the more generic paints. I also usually give the boxes a primer coat with white or cream to help too. Hope that helps, I'd love to see your Love Monster when it's all finished!
:-))) Very pretty!
These are so cute!!! I love the monster!! I made a monster for my son this year too!! So much fun!

Do you use the tissue box to make this.
Mackenzie, yes I use tissue boxes and just spray paint them.
I LOVE these!
My daughter (8) saw your monster on Pinterest and had to make one. It turned out great! She’s super proud and could not wait to get it to school to show her classmates!
Thanks Sandy, I love that your daughter wanted to make one (P.S. Tell her it turned out super cute, love that gold!)
Super cute. I am pinning the monster box now:)
can i use regular glue instead of hot glue?
Susie, yes, but if you are using the foam pieces I would use a thicker craft glue opposed to glue sticks. Have fun and if you make one come back and share it with us on Twitter or Facebook!
