Remember when I told you how much I love the month of October and Halloween? Well, it’s true. In fact I’m back today and super excited to share The Purr-fect Halloween Party with lots of cute cats, crafts, and candy!
I stumbled on the cutest black cat plates at Michaels and I immediately knew that I had to plan a party with them. After my daughter and I made these cute painted back to school cat shoes she has kind of been smitten with anything having to do with cats, so I knew this would be the purr-fect party for her and her friends.
When it comes to celebrating holidays, I’m a firm believer in keeping things simple. Often times people complain that they can’t host parties because it’s too much work, too expensive, or too overwhelming. But, it doesn’t have to be. Here is how you can create a fun, simple and absolutely purr-fect Halloween party.
Start with some cute cat plates and pumpkin napkins, which you can find at Michaels with the Halloween party supplies.
Keep the treats simple. I served my kids favorite easy Halloween Chex Mix, oranges and of course cupcakes! Don’t forget the milk. Your little kittens will love sipping their milk from mini plastic milk jugs.
Next, make sure you plan a craft to keep the kids busy and entertained. I decided to let them make their own cute cat masks. I used my Cricut Maker to put whip this craft out in less than 15 minutes.
Step 1:
Gather your supplies, you will need the following:
- Cricut Maker
- Light Grip Mat
- Cricut Gold Pen
- Black Cardstock
- Orange Cardstock
- White Tissue Paper
- Glue Dots
- Paper Straws
Step 2:
Open Cricut Design Space, click on projects and search for cat mask. Once you find the file, select make it now to open the project.
Step 3:
Use the black cardstock and cut out a mask for each guest.
Step 4:
Use the orange cardstock and cut out the inner piece for the cat’s ears and nose. I just freehanded this party, but you could use Cricut Design space to create the cut images for you.
Step 5:
Use glue dots to attach the pieces to the cats face. Before you glue the nose down you will want to cut thin stripes of white tissue paper to create your whiskers for your cat.
Step 6:
Turn the mask over and use glue dots, or tape, to attach the paper straw to the edge of the mask.
Now your cute little party guest have a fun prop to play with the rest of the party. Make sure you get pictures of your cute little kittens with their DIY cat masks.
Now, it’s time for candy! Send everyone home with a few sweet treats. I used black and white favor bags, printed out the free “Hope Your Halloween is Purr-fect” printable tags. I filled the bags with black, white and orange candy and attached the tag with a mini orange clothespin.
There you have it a cute, simple and fun way to celebrate Halloween. I think this party would be purr-fect for an after school playdate or even a special Halloween family dinner!
