Mini pies and clever puns make this easy Sweet As Pie Gift with free printable tags an adorable idea for Valentine’s Day!
National Pie Day
Did you know that National Pie Day is January 23rd? Me either! But you can bet when I found out about it I knew that I had to create a quick and easy gift to share with my friends and neighbors to celebrate.
I’m always looking for fun ideas to show people in my life that I’m thinking about them. I’m a firm believer in finding simple ways to make an ordinary day feel extraordinary.
Valentine’s Day is also right around the corner, and these cute treats would be perfect for co-workers, friends, neighbors, and teachers.
Sweet As Pie Gift Idea
I always see these mini pies in the bakery section at the grocery store. I’m a sucker for mini desserts and always looking for cute ways to incorporate them into parties or as favors.
One of the best things about these mini pies, other than the fact that I don’t have to bake them, they are only $1.
To create your own mini sweet-as-pie gift you will need:
- Mini Pies (I found mine at Wal-Mart)
- Vanilla Icing
- Heart Cherry Candies
- Free Sweet As Pie printable tags printed on cardstock
- Red and White Bakers Twine
- Red and Pink Ribbon
- Glue Dots or Hot Glue
- Scissors
- Hole Punch
How to Make Mini Cherry Valentine Pies
First, you will need to carefully undo the bottom of the pie box. I used a knife and gently slid it across the bottom until it was open.
Next, remove the pie from the box.
Use food coloring to color vanilla icing red and green and put it in a piping bag.
Take one of the small red heart-shaped candies and place a small dab of red icing on the back to secure it in place on the top of the pie.
Next, use the piping bag with the green icing to create the stems for your cherries.
Place the pie back inside the box and secure the bottom of the box with glue dots or hot glue.
Tie the ribbon around the box and add the printable tag.

DIY Pom Pom Cherries
I also made a few DIY pom-pom cherries to add to my pie boxes. I thought these were a super cute and easy way to make these gifts even more fun!
All you need are red pom-poms and a green pipe cleaner. Hot glue the pom-poms to the ends of the piper cleaners and then twist the tops until they look like two cherries intertwined. Cut a green leaf out of cardstock and glue it to the top of the cherry stem.
Add them to your sweet-as-pie gift for an extra cute topper.
These little pie favor gifts are perfect for Valentine’s Day, Pie Day, or Teacher Appreciation. Simply add the cute tags and you are all set to show the people in your life you love them “cherry much!”
