Every summer my family and I eat our weight in watermelons. We cannot get enough, they are just so refreshing during the hot Southern Summers! I wanted to make snack time a little more special recently, so I invited a few friends and my niece and nephew over for a Simple Summer Watermelon Party and watermelon snacks. While the kids splashed in the pool, I set up a sweet little snack table.
The night before the playdate, I made a watermelon cake. It’s really a funfetti cake with pink and green frosting. Since my niece only likes cupcakes and not cake, I grabbed a package of store bought cupcakes and added sweet watermelon party circles from Pineapple Paper Company. I poured fruit punch in a drink dispenser and set it on a red cake plate. Simple glass milk jars from Oriental Trading were dressed with watermelon wrappers and placed in a red vintage style drink caddy. Of course we had to have watermelon too! So, I cut up small slices and put them in paper cups embellished with more party circles. I restrung my gingham bunting with green ribbon and hung it on the wall above the food. I found the adorable watermelon plates at HomeGoods, as well as some watermelon shaped sour candies. The plates are the perfect size for cake and watermelon.
I separated the candies into cello bags and tied them with green ribbon. I added a party circle to the bags too. I also ordered fun watermelon beach balls from Oriental Trading Company. The kids played with them in the pool, and then took them home with candies, and mini watermelons.
I am so excited to be a part of the Giggles Galore blogger team! I hope you’ll join me on my site, Everyday Party Magazine for more party inspiration too!
It looks wonderful! Simple is always a good party of any equation…
