I hope you are enjoying a fun Memorial Day Celebration with your friends and loved ones. I am grateful for this day to honor and support those brave men and women who protect, serve and make countless sacrifices to protect our freedom. I am grateful for my freedom. I am grateful for the brave. And today while we celebrate Memorial Day with pool parties and backyard BBQ’s we also say THANK YOU to the selfless sacrifice of soldiers past and present!

I threw a few simple decorations together for a Red, White and Blue pool party a friend hosted and thought I would share them with all of you. Everything was so easy and just a few simple details scattered around the pool area help make it a festive Memorial Day Celebration. I used patriotic paper fans from Party City to spruce up the covered patio.
A bunch of Mason jars filled with blue tinted water looked fantastic with red and white flowers. I added a flag for a little patriotic flair.
I saw these giant wooden fireworks from Hoosier Homemade on Pinterest and loved the idea of making a big statement with the decor near the pool. I bought two 8 foot 4×4 untreated fence posts. My husband cut them down to 3 1/2′, 2 1/2′ and 2′ to make varying heights. I spray painted a base coat of white and them taped them off to spray paint the red stripes and the top blue. I painted a star on the smaller one and then added rope for the fuse. They looked great flanking each side of the pool.
We kept the decorations simple, but everything still looked festive and fun for our Memorial Day Celebration. What did you do to celebrate Memorial Day?
