There are so many delicious ways to celebrate Easter. Today I am excited to share with you a super easy Easter Bunny Cake that is not only cute, but scrumptious too!
I mention all the time on my site how much I love my Cricut machine so by now you know that it is one of my favorite craft tools. I have teamed up with Cricut to share this simple tutorial with you and show just one of the versatile benefits of crafting with a Cricut Explore Air 2. If you are hosting Easter brunch or you are headed to grandma’s house for dinner then I highly recommend that you volunteer for dessert so you can take this beautiful and playful Easter bunny cake.
Did you know that the Cricut machine can cut a variety of different materials with ease? That’s right, you can cut everything from paper and vinyl, to leather and fabric! It’s so versatile that I can do everything from personalize home decor, to transforming a bedroom, creating gifts and of course entertaining! Earlier this season I made these Decorative Floral Easter Eggs and I am obsessed with this bright color palette. I was inspired to create a cake and incorporate these colors, but I had a hard time finding the right color paper at the craft store. So, I decided to use my Cricut to bring this project to life. I purchased a piece of chipboard and cut out bunnies and eggs for my project.
I set my dial to posterboard+ and the machine cut through this chipboard like a knife slides through warm butter. It was so smooth. Even though the material was thick it precisely cut each image without any problems.
Once my bunnies and eggs were cut out I started to paint them, just like I did the banner and eggs in this project. Once they were dry I added toothpicks to the back of the bunnies and glued the eggs to a twine garland.
Now all that was left was decorating my delicious lemon cake. I used this recipe, with a few changes to the icing. I used the juice of a whole lemon and up it to 3 cups of powdered sugar and the results were delicious! I made mine in round pans, but you could make a sheet cake if you wanted to as well.
Once the cake was completely frosted I placed the bunnies in the cake, hung the garland behind them and added flowers to the bottom of the cake. It’s as easy as that. Now I have a pretty cake for our Easter brunch that matches all of my Easter decor! This was a quick and easy project that takes an ordinary cake and makes it extraordinary!
