Dashing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh, O’er the fields we go Laughing all the way. I’m so excited to share this year’s Cozy Winter Woodland Themed Christmas Tree. Inspired by jingle bells and a snowy evening in the woods, my tree this year makes me feel like I’m at a cozy winter lodge.
For the past 5 years, I have been creating a new dream tree to share here on the blog with you. Every year as I set out to decorate my tree I wonder if it’s possible to love the new design as much as I loved the previous years. And, every year I fall in love all over again. There is no doubt about it, I am completely smitten with this year’s winter woodland themed Christmas tree!
This year I have teamed up with Decorator’s Warehouse in their Home for the Holidays Christmas Tree Challenge. They are one of the largest Christmas stores in the world and have a passion for helping you create the best Christmas ever.
Winter Woodland Christmas Tree Ideas
Ten years ago our family decided to ditch all of the Christmas presents and booked a cabin in the woods near Yellowstone for Christmas. To this day it is still one of the most memorable and magical Christmases I’ve ever had. Our cozy cabin was nestled back in the woods surrounded by trees and glistening white snow.
As I set out to decorate my tree with the Rustic Christmas Decorations from Decorator’s Warehouse I was reminded of that cozy cabin in the woods. I wanted to create a tree that reminded me of the snowy woods, sleigh rides, and snuggling in cozy blankets on a cold winter night.
Woodland Themed Christmas Tree Decorations
A few years ago I DIY flocked my Christmas tree. I love how it makes it feel like a tree in the woods that has lightly been dusted with snow. It was the perfect backdrop for all of the decorations on this woodland-inspired tree.
When decorating a Christmas tree I always start with the ribbon. I paired a textured red sweater ribbon and a snowy birch ribbon together and weaved them in and out throughout the tree.
Next, I created a focal point on the tree using the oversized tin jingle bell ornaments. I wired two bells together, created a bow with a rustic floral spray and placed them in the middle of the tree. I then added a few other jingle bells in a variety of sizes to the tree to balance it out and tie it all together.
I wanted a mix of rustic Christmas decorations and a touch of glam. These beautiful pine cone ornaments add a touch of elegance to this woodland inspired tree.
When it comes to ornaments I like to make sure I have a variety of sizes and textures. So, I mixed oversized gold metallic balls with delicate mercury glass bird ornaments, and fuzzy woodland birds.
