I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Here’s the scoop, National Ice Cream Day is Sunday, July 21st and I’m here to show you how to create a simple Summer Ice Cream Social.
Personally, I love these silly made-up holidays, I think they are the perfect excuse for gathering some friends, making homemade ice cream, and having a simple soiree with everyone’s favorite summer treat.
The summer is heating up here in Texas and we are always looking for ways to cool off, so a get-together centered around frosty, sweet treats just makes sense. Here are my favorite tips and tricks for hosting a low-stress Simple Summer Ice Cream Social.
Ice Cream Social Party Ideas
When it comes to entertaining I like to keep things simple and contained. Rather than decorating the entire house for a party, I designate one small area as the “party zone.” This not only helps me keep the cost down on decorations, but it also helps keep the mess and the kids contained in one area.
For this simple summer ice cream party, I created an ice cream parlor by covering a wall in white paper, and adding vinyl sticker sprinkles that I made with my Cricut Explore Air 2. I added an Ice Cream banner and used a small white table to display the treats. Ice cream is messy and I would have preferred to have this party outside, but it’s way too hot here in Texas to set up outside, talk about a melty mess. So instead the kids helped themselves at the ice cream parlor and then took their treats outside to enjoy.
Tips for Serving Ice Cream
One of my favorite tips for an ice cream social is to pre-scoop your ice cream and put it in Chinet® Cut Crystal® 9 oz. cups. It’s a lot less messy and it saves you from being a sticky-covered mess while trying to host a party. Once you have scooped the ice cream into the cups put it back in the freezer until you are ready to serve them. Fill a large bucket with ice and arrange the cups on top of the ice so guest can grab one and add their favorite toppings.
An ice cream party without ice cream cones just seems wrong, so while I prefer to have everything pre-scooped and ready to go in cups I do like to include cones so that the kids can enjoy a good old-fashioned ice cream cone treat. It’s super easy to make your own sprinkle-dipped ice cream cones, or you could make your own DIY ice cream cone wrappers as another fun way to bring a pop of color to this simple party.

Love this party set up! The backdrop is such a cute idea. I wish I had a wall that I could do something like that, but my walls are full of windows. (which I also love) Thanks so much for sharing.
