Summer is upon us, and along with it comes grilling season. Our family loves firing up the grill and dining al fresco during the warm summer months. But, let’s be honest when it comes to grilling I’m usually not the one in charge. My husband is the grill master around here, which is why I decided to make him this Grill Master Personalized Wood Sign. This DIY hanging sign will help him keep all his BBQ tools organized and handy while he is out manning the grill.
This sign would make a great Father’s Day gift. Pair it with our Spicy Chipotle BBQ Sauce for the ultimate gift for the grill master in your life.
- Plywood Board, cut to 24 x 14
- DecoArt Americana Decor Color Stain
- Vinyl or Stickers
- Cricut Machine (optional)
- Wire Hanger
I cut a scrap piece of plywood to 24 x 14 and sanded the board until it was smooth.
I picked the Americana Decor Color Stain in Ash Grey for this project. Because this project will be hanging outside I wanted to make sure I used a product that would stand up to the outside elements. I love this color stain because it is thicker than your typical stain. The semi-transparent formula allows you complete control over the final tint and opacity of your projects. And with the unique, self-sealing technology, there is no need to finish with a protective topcoat.
I painted two coats of the Ash Grey color stain on the board and let it dry.
While the paint was drying I used my Cricut to create a custom GrillMaster logo for the sign. Once the sign was dry I applied the vinyl to the sign.
Next, I used the drill and added the metal hooks.
Hang your BBQ tools and get ready for a flavorful season of grilling.
That’s all there is to it, a simple and easy DIY project that’s perfect for your grill master. I love how this turned out and think it’s a great Father’s Day gift.
