It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Last spring we moved into a new home and I’m super excited about decorating for Christmas and making memories with my family in our new home. So, of course I was thrilled to find out that our Michaels Makers Challenge this month was to decorate a Christmas tree for the Dream Tree Challenge. I had a hard time deciding on a theme for my new tree, but knew I wanted it to be fairly neutral with a little bit of sparkle and glam. I’m calling this our Rustic Reindeer Christmas Tree.
This tree features everything that I imagine you’d find in the reindeer’s barn at the North Pole. From snow balls and jingle bells to the wood and Rudolph’s shiny red nose, this sophisticated yet cozy tree is the perfect mix of natural elements and glam. Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing lots of tutorials so stay tuned for those, but in the mean time let’s have a look at my Dream Tree!
My Rustic Reindeer Christmas Tree is a combination of ornaments I bought at Michaels mixed some fun DIY ornaments. My handmade DIY garland was the focal point and main color palette with pops of white, gold, silver and just a hint of red. I love the mix of shiny metal, rustic wood, burlap and glitter! I used my Cricut to add simple words to the wood slice ornaments I found at Michaels. I love how simple they are, especially mixed with all the shiny ornaments.
This year I’m using brown kraft wrapping paper and plain white paper to wrap all of our gifts. Gold glitter ribbon, burlap, twine, dollies, and wood slice ornaments will make every package look extra special. I blame my mom for this, she always coordinated the wrapping paper to match her tree and every present had beautiful bows or were adorned with creative tags, we always joked that the packages were too pretty to even open but it’s those little details that made Christmas feel extra special and one of those traditions and memories I’ll carry on with my family.
Are you ready to decorate your Dream Tree? Head to Michaels November 2 through November 8 for the Make It Merry Tree Event and save 50% off all trees 6 ft. or taller!

Love the tree, it’s beautiful! I’m digging on burlap a lot lately, and I love how you mixed the burlap with the glittered ornaments. The art of pretty wrapping has not been given to me yet, God bless your mom for giving you that gift! 🙂
