Have you been watching The Big Tournament? I am an avid sports fan, especially when it comes to basketball in March. The first week of the tournament has shown us that anything can happen, everything from the unusual, improbable to the unthinkable has happened this week and I’m loving every minute of it! I’m here today to inspire you to get together with your friends and host a Slam Dunk Basketball party.
With all the excitement and buzz happening around The Big Tournament I decided it was the perfect excuse to throw a party and invite friends over to cheer on every upset and winning basket. What better way to celebrate all this madness than with a one-of-a-kind watch party. To get in the spirit and make sure you are prepared for the next round of games I’m sharing one of my favorite game day snacks, and some tips for planning a simple and fun basketball themed party.
To start you are going to need some snacks that are just as exciting as the game its self. These Jalapeno Carnitas & Cojita Cheese Crackers are one of my favorite game day snacks because they are packed full of flavor and bold enough to satisfy any appetite. They are simple to make, and when you pair them with a refreshing Coca-Cola® Classic you have a real winner. Head to your local Target to get everything you’ll need to make this delicious recipe. Right now you can buy RITZ® Crackers are 2/$5, and WHEAT THINS Snacks and TRISCUIT® Crackers for 2/$5 . You can also take advantage and save 25% on select products when you use your cartwheel offers.
Start by roasting corn in a heavy skillet. Next, add the cream cheese, sour cream and cojita cheese in a large mixing bowl. Mix all of the cheese together and then dump in the roasted corn.
Spoon the corn mixture back into the skillet and bake for 10-12 minutes on 350.
Now it’s time to make your epic game day snacks. Place TRISCUIT® Crackers on a serving tray and top with the cheese mixture, carnitas and a jalapeno slice.
Serve with an ice cold Coca-Cola® Classic for a slam dunk snack.
When it comes to entertaining I’m a big believer in making things festive and fun, but that doesn’t mean it needs to be complicated, expensive or hard. I like to set-up a central area where guesst can help themselves to snacks, just like this basketball themed snack station. I pulled out a few of my staple party supplies, like my chalkboard banner and created a simple backdrop.
I placed some of my favorite game day snacks on the table including popcorn and the jalapeno carnitas cojita cheese crackers.
I also made one of my favorite snacks, Peanut Butter Chocolate covered RITZ® crackers. I even made a few of them look like basketballs because themed snacks are always more fun!
With a winning set-up, the perfect game day snacks you’ll be ready for all of the madness in this crazy, unpredictable tournament!
