Here’s the buzz! Whether you are planning a bee themed first birthday party, a baby shower for the “mom-to-bee” or a just BEE-cause tea party, this DIY Bee-utiful Bee Themed Party is full of creative ideas everyone will love.
I teamed up with my friends at Cricut to show you how to create a stylish celebration using the Cricut Maker. If your guest of honor is as sweet as honey and loves buzzing around consider a bee themed party that is full of fun DIY projects and ideas.
If you’ve been around, you know how much I love using my Cricut Maker to create everything from home decor to party decorations. One of the reasons I love it so much is that you can customize and personalize your party decor and turn ordinary supplies into an extraordinary celebration.
As spring approaches and the flowers start blooming everything around me seems to be buzzing with excitement. This is what inspired this bee-themed party. I wanted a bright and cheerful party that was versatile enough that it could be used for a baby shower or birthday celebrations for the young and old. A bee-themed party seemed to check all the boxes, so I set down with my Cricut and got to work.
First, I created a hexagon backdrop using Cricut cardstock. I simply cut out a bunch of shapes in different colors and then randomly placed them on the wall to create a pattern that resembled a honeycomb. I took the simple backdrop to the next level with a beautiful balloon garland. The balloon garland was so easy to create with the help of the balloon tape, it was a huge time saver. The backdrop created an instant focal point for a simple dessert station.
Next, I created a custom cake topper with the Knife Blade and Cricut chipboard. Why limit yourself to putting candles or cheesy store-bought toppers on your cake when you can create the perfect personalized design yourself? I designed the Queen Bee SVG in Design Space and then cut it out on Cricut chipboard. I spray painted the topper white and added a hint of gold glitter.
I piled donuts on my cake plate and added the customized “Queen Bee” cake topper. I added a few buzzing bees by attaching them to floral wire and placing them in the donut cake.
My absolute favorite detail of this little celebration was the custom DIY bee themed coasters and name cards. I love personalizing anything I can for parties, I believe it helps make the guest feel extra special and loved. It’s easy to create these cute coasters, simply click HERE to get started.
Finally, I used the Cricut Maker and the Scoring Wheel to create a fun little party favors for guests to take home. Fill them with candy, Honey Combo cereal or Burt’s Bee chapstick to give your guest something to remember the afternoon.
Whether you are planning a birthday party, baby shower or gender revel party the Cricut Maker is a versatile tool that can take your celebration from ordinary to extraordinary!
I love themed parties. Yours is just gorgeous to look at and I like all your clever bee touches and puns:)
What size are the hexagons you cut with the cricut?
Hi Kelly, I cut the hexagons 6″ which allowed me to cut 3 on the 12 x 24″ mat.
