To me one of the most important parts of a birthday party are the activities and entertainment that keep the kids busy and happy. I love incorporating the party theme and there were so many fun ways to bring this fairy tale to life.
Games & Activities: We started the party with everyone decorating their own candy cottage. I originally wanted to make them just like we do at our Gingerbread House Decorating party, but decided it was more mess and with all our guest it was going to stretch my party budget. So I contacted Piggy Bank Parties and they created a 3D favor box complete with candy stickers that they kids could decorate. This idea actually worked out perfectly because we used the boxes for the other activities.
After decorating our houses we gathered everyone for an scavenger hunt in the woods. I printed the party circles and attached a set to mini wood circles my dad cut from tree limbs. I hid the wooden circles all throughout the wooded area and then each kid drew a party circle from the bucket and set off to find their matching image. Once they brought back their matching image they were given a candy necklace to put in their cottage favor box.
There is something so satisfying about seeing children explore nature and using their imaginations. After our “organized” activities were finished the kids wandered off to explore their surroundings. They threw stones in the pond, captured frogs, gathered sticks and created their own pebble trail. I loved watching them explore and hearing their giggles as they enjoyed a beautiful afternoon.
Everyone went home with one of the custom cookies and favor bags with bubbles, lollipops and gumdrops. It truly was a sweet celebration 4 my beautiful twins!
