FALL is fast approaching and I, for one, can NOT wait!!!! It is no secret that fall is my favorite time of year! Here in Ohio, the temperatures have even gotten a little cooler already this week and it made me want to start decorating for fall. So I grabbed all the pumpkins, along with my absolute fave fall decorating pieces and started the process! Once I got going, I decided that I wanted something NEW to add into my fall decor this year. I needed a little bit of “art” to add into the mix and I decided that I would create a NEW fall print to add. This hand lettered “Happy Harvest” art print.
For this art print, I grabbed my drawing pencils, sketchbook and got to work! I sketched out a couple designs and played around with different layouts and various fall phrases until landing on this overall layout as the ‘winner’.
I also wanted to design this art print with some color but give it a twist. Instead of the traditional orange pumpkin art, I decided, since I have some version of blue incorporated into nearly every room in my house now, I would make the pumpkin art in shades of blue and save the orange for the hand lettering. I used colored pencils to colorize this print and loved the look I was able to achieve by using them. Something about using pencils allow for the details to still show in your illustration and give it that ‘original art’ feel to the print.
I am still undecided as to ‘where’ I like this print the best in my home. I have had it in my living room on my table under the TV on the wall but I also LOVE it here in my freshly subway tiled kitchen!! That’s what I am loving so much about the color scheme I chose was that it is so versatile anywhere in your home!
