Get ready guys… it’s almost football season! While some people are excited about the sports, I’m excited about having people over to eat, chat, and hang out. My fiancé is a “less is more” type of person, whereas I’m the type to bring out all the party supplies, [force him to] make all the snacks possible, and turn a small gathering to watch football into a Super Bowl Sunday style party. I figured the best method was to meet somewhere in the middle, so I created some last-minute projects for an easy football party. The best part is that all the projects use items that you probably already have at home! So, huddle up and let’s get started!
Mini Football Banner
Every party needs a little décor, right?! This tiny banner is just what you need to add some color and whimsy to your gathering. You can make it bigger, or customize it with your team name or some other funny saying. Felt is SO cheap, so you can make a whole bunch of these to hang around! My suggestions: DEFENSE, TOUCHDOWN, your favorite player’s name and number, or your favorite brand of beer and/or snack. Mine would probably say DORITOS or CHEETOS or something. I love snacking on chips during a game!
You will need:
- Felt
- Flocked Varsity Letters (Mine were .75 inches tall)
- Ribbon
- Scissors
- Glue Gun
- Paper
Directions:
Fold a piece of paper in half, and cut out a triangle shape.Using the paper triangle as a guide, cut your banner pieces out of felt. Adjust the order of the colors so that it looks like a nice pattern.
Cut out your varsity letters, and place them on your banner pieces. If you don’t have iron on letters, you can use acrylic paint instead! Iron your letters onto the felt according to the instructions on your iron-ons.
Glue your banner pieces onto the ribbon. I cut the end into a triangle so that it looked a bit neater.
All done and now you have a quick and easy football craft that will help you make your football watching party a touchdown! Make sure you check out my football flag drink stirrers and cups for more even more football inspiration.
