The days are getting shorter and colder, this winter light up your porch and welcome guest with beautiful DIY Paper Bag Luminaries. The golden glow of a candle has such a calming effect and these handmade luminaries are a fun and beautiful way to light up the night this holiday season.
This holiday I am making a concentrated effort to focus on relationships and moments that really matter with the important people in my life. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by family and friends that light my soul on fire and bring joy to my life. I thought it would be fitting to plan a special family dinner to celebrate the lights in my life, and while brainstorming ideas to make it extra special I thought it would be fun to create our own DIY Paper Bag Luminaries.
These magical luminaries are really fun and easy to make. My kids were excited to help with this project and oohed and awed when we light them up and lined our walk way with them. If you are planning a holiday party these would be a great edition and the perfect way to welcome your guest.
Here is what you will need:
- White Paper Bags
- Tea Light Candles
- Eyelet Setter Tool
- Star Template
Trace your star stencil on the white paper bag
Slide a small self healing mat into the bag so that it is directly beneath your traced stencil. Use the eyelet setting tool to start punching small holes into your paper bag.
Continue punching holes around your template until you have it completely outlined with the holes.
Once you have finished punching holes in all of your paper bags, fill the bottom with sand and then place a tea light candle in the bottom.
Carefully light the candle and admire the soft glow of the candles glowing on your porch.
These luminaries are a beautiful way to light the way to your home this holiday season. They will warm your heart and get you ready to celebrate the lights in your life during this festive seasons!
