I thought it would be fitting to plan a special Winter Solstice Party to celebrate the lights in my life. Ane, while brainstorming ideas to make it extra special I thought it would be fun to create our own DIY Paper Bag Luminaries.
How to Make DIY Paper Bag Luminaries
These magical luminaries are really fun and easy to make. My kids were excited to help with this project and oohed and awed when we light them up and lined our walkway with them. If you are planning a holiday party these would be a great edition and the perfect way to welcome your guest.
Paper Bag Luminarie Supplies
- White Paper Bags
- Tea Light Candles
- Eyelet Setter Tool
- Star Template
- Pencil
- Sand
Step 1
Trace your star stencil on the white paper bag
Step 2
Slide a small self-healing mat into the bag so that it is directly beneath your traced stencil. Use the eyelet setting tool to start punching small holes into your paper bag.
Step 3
Continue punching holes around your template until you have it completely outlined with the holes.
Step 4
Once you have finished punching holes in all of your paper bags, fill the bottom with sand and then place a tea light candle in the bottom.
Step 5
Carefully light the candle and admire the soft glow of the candles glowing on your porch.
