It’s the season after summer, it’s before the winter… it’s the fall, it’s the fall, it’s the fall! While everyone else mourns the end of summer, I’m one of those people that gets excited that fall is arriving. What better way to welcome it than by placing a colorful wreath on your door?! This colorful fall pumpkin wreath perfectly bridges the gap between the seasons, because it has the pumpkins for fall, but the bright colors of summer. This way, your neighbors won’t think you’re that crazy for putting it up the second week of September.
You will need:
- 12″ Foam wreath (here)
- Mini pumpkins (can probably be found at your local dollar store, but I got mine here)
- Yarn or ribbon
- Spray paint
- Glue gun
- Scissors (here)
- Pom Poms (similar here)
Directions:
Spray paint your pumpkins in your choice of colors. I picked pink, turquoise, orange, aqua, and a pop of gold.
While you wait for your pumpkins to dry, wrap your yarn or ribbon around the wreath. If you want the process to be faster, I recommend using a thicker ribbon or 3 pieces of yarn at a time. Make sure you keep it as tight as possible to prevent gaps.
Fill in any gaps left by the yarn by using a smaller piece of yarn and gluing it in place. This process can drive someone crazy, so I recommend only focusing on the larger gaps.
Arrange your pumpkins in the order you want them, then glue them onto the wreath.
I started gluing in the middle first, then stacked them up around the sides. I added glue to the sides, the top/bottom, and the stem. Basically, any parts that touched were glued together.
The pumpkins alone looked pretty bare, so I added a little somethin’ somethin’ to fill in the gaps. The pom poms add a touch of whimsy and fun!
These aren’t regular pom poms. I got them from Michaels and they are plush pom-poms. I glued them only on the inside of the wreath, behind the pumpkins. They’re super colorful, and give it a boho vibe.
Once all the pom poms were glued, I went back around and filled in any gaps.
Woohoo! Now you have something colorful to spice up your door. Or should I say… pumpkin spice up your door?! I can’t wait to hang up this colorful wreath. My neighbors may think I’m a little crazy, but all the best people are, right?
