Annual Frio River Trip 2011

When summer arrives I start to eagerly look forward to our annual Frio River trip.  We have been going to the Frio with good friends for 9 years and it's always a great time. There is something so relaxing about being disconnected from reality (no phone, TV, internet, work or daily distractions) and surrounded by good friends.  Although we may not see or talk to each other for a while we pick up right where we left off, as if it were just yesterday we were here. This vacation has slowly evolved as … [Read more...]

Whale Outfits

We recently went to Sea World for a fun family vacation.  My parents thought it would be fun to get the whole family together and I am so glad we got to spend time together and enjoy a fun weekend in San Antonio. Back in March my sister and I found this cute whale fabric and my grandma bought it (thanks Grandma Y.) so we could make matching outfits for the kids to wear to Sea World.  I'm a sucker for matching outfits!  I remember going to Disney World with our cousins and having matching … [Read more...]

We recently packed up the cars and drove to Utah to visit our family. This was a big family affair so we were fortunate to have Grandma & Grandpa Y and Aunt Bethany & Uncle Josh along for the ride (thank goodness, I don't think we would have survived the 21 hour/3 day trip withouthelp!) On our drive out there we decided to stop and visit the Grand Canyon. The first evening we were there Justin and I were able to spend some alone time watching the sunset and enjoying the peace and quite of this … [Read more...]

“No food in the house” Muffin Tin Monday

We just got back from vacation yesterday and I am trying to get everyone back on schedule and adjusted to real life. The month of July was crazy for us and we were in and out so much that I honestly don't think I have been to the grocery store in 3 or 4 weeks. Needless to say there is nothing to eat in our house.I love Muffin Tin Mondays because you can throw together a lunch with what little you have on hand and the kids get so excited, even though it is nothing special. Today's lunch was a … [Read more...]

Road Trip Activities

We are about to embark on a 21 hour road trip to visit family in Utah. I am very excited about spending time with family, hanging out on the farm, camping in the mountains and cooler weather...I am not excited about being in the car for 21 hours with my beautiful (sometimes whiny) kids. I have been a little stressed about this trip and have tried to come up with some fun things for them to do along the way. In the process I decided to make them some new Road Trip Activities to play with. First … [Read more...]

Floatin’ the Frio

We just got back from a mini vacay at the Frio River. We LOVE the Frio! We were so lucky to have started this tradition 8 years ago with good friends from college and what's even better is how it has continued to transform and grow with our ever changing lives (AKA kids)We decided to leave the twins behind this year and only take Aubrey (The whole crew is a bit overwhelming at times and we wanted to make sure we got an invite back for next year.) :) We had a blast spending some quality time … [Read more...]
