Summer is slowly winding down and before you know it we will be headed back to school. This year document all of the anticipation and excitement with a new family tradition, a Back to School Interview!
Last year I sent my oldest off to kindergarten and I loved seeing how much she changed throughout the year, but this year I decided to document some of the changes. This back to school interview is the perfect place to start. I’ve also made a Back to School Time Capsule, which we will be adding the completed interview to.
I thought it would be fun to have the kids fill out the interview on the first day of school and then we could compare answers (and handwriting) on the last day of school. I’ve created a Back to School Interview Printable which you can download for free. Click HERE to download.
We’ve also created an updated Back to School Version that you can download and use before the kiddos actually head back to school.
Alright, it’s confession time…are you ready for school to start?
Too cute! I have a Kinder student this year and love this idea for a fun thing to put in their memory box!
Thanks Courtney! I wish I had done this last year when my daughter started kinder, she changed so much throughout the year it would have been fun to look back on just how much she changed!
Can’t wait to use with my Kindergardener! WOW! I always love your photos!
I love this! I’m going print these now!

I love this idea. My little girl starts Kindergarten this year, but I wish I would have seen this before my older boys had started school. That is alright a new tradition will just now be made :). I am going to scan their answers and put them into a hard bound book though. Then have it at the Graduation Party. Thank you so much for this idea I can not wait to see my kids grow and change in these interviews.
Amanda, I love the idea of putting all of them together in a book to give them at their graduation party. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi. I just stumbled across your blog and love your ideas. I also loved and borrowed your idea for the Tin for Ten entry. I am currently working on the tin as my anniversary is tomorrow! I could totally write your story word for word as I also got married young. Anyhoo, how would you change the interview questions for a 12/13 year old? TY.
Thanks for stopping by, I’m so glad you’ve found inspiration from some of my ideas. For the interview I would suggest asking questions about some of their favorite interest/sports/hobbies. Also, consider asking questions about what subjects they like most, least and what they think they are best at. It will be fun to see how the answers change at the end of the year. Have fun!
Thank you for think printable, i will be using it during our first week of the new year at our home school. I hope you don’t mind, I am sharing a photo and link to your site on my fairly new homeschooling blog. http://learningtogetherahomeschooljourney.blogspot.ca/
I can’t get to the download… What’s the best link?
Steph, you can use this link https://gigglesgalore.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Back-to-School-Interview_Giggles-Galore.pdf. If you still have trouble email and I’ll send a copy over to you!
