Looking for a fun snack idea to treat your kids to on the first day of school? Make a Back to School Snack Board with cute and healthy snacks.
Charcuterie boards have been all the rage the last few years. And, it’s easy to see why, they are fun to make and the possibilities are endless. From a breakfast-inspired charcuterie board to a movie night snack board I love serving snacks and treats this way.
So, it only made sense that I create a Back to School Snack board with some fun and tasty treats!
Every day when my kids come home from school they have tasks and responsibilities that they need to check off their after-school checklist. This helps keep our busy schedules on track, while still allowing them some down time to play or relax. Plus, it keeps me from having to constantly remind them what they need to be doing.
At the top of that checklist is snack time, because every single day my kids come home from school starving. While most days I encourage them to grab a piece of fruit or another healthy option occasionally I like to surprise them with a super special and fun treat. And, this snack board is perfect for an epic after-school treat on the first day of school!
How to Make an After-School Snack Board
First, you will need a large round cutting board or a shallow serving tray.
I turned some store-bought treats into quick and easy school-themed desserts. I made chalkboard brownies, and pencil-shaped cookies and turned mini Babybel cheese into cute little apples.
Layer the larger treats like the brownies, crackers, and pretzels on the bottom. Be sure to group similar items together.
Use small bowls to contain loose items like fresh-popped popcorn or goldfish. This also adds some height and dimension to your snack board.
While the treats are fun, I like to make sure I balance out all that sugar with some healthy options too. I used strawberries, celery, and apple slices.
Capture the fun and excitement of the first day of school with this delicious Back to School Snack Board! Pair it with a tall cold glass of milk and you are ready to party!
Speaking of parties, with an epic snack board like this why not share it with friends. Plan a back-to-school party or simply invite a few friends over after school to share all of their favorite parts of the first day of school.
