I love fall, it’s one of my favorite times of the year. I love all the rich colors, the warm clothes, the crisp air in the morning, the smell of cinnamon, apples and pumpkins and of course Halloween. I had the opportunity several years ago to go apple picking in upstate NY and I immediately feel in love with this fall tradition. Today’s MTM theme is apples and as I was trying to come up with ideas it struck me that I could use this great “apple picking” tradition.
Since we live in Texas and it is still humid & warm, not to mention I have no idea where an actual apple orchard is we had to make do. So we went “apple picking” at the grocery store. Then we took this opportunity to learn about how we get apples. First we planted our seeds (raisins), then we watch seeds sprout up into saplings (pretzel sticks in PB), then we watched them blossom & produce apples (broccoli in ranch dip & red hots) and finally we got to pick the apples and enjoy.I have to say I love how this Muffin Tin turned out and the best part is Aubrey really seemed to enjoy learning about how apples grow. I overheard her several times telling the babies “this is how we get apples, see…”
I have a few cute apple crafts that we hope to try out this week to continue reinforcing the super cute MTM theme.
Don’t forget to visit Her Cup Overfloweth to see what everyone else came up with.
P.S. If you live in my area and know of an apple orchard let me know, I would love to take the kids.
