A backyard bonfire party is one of the easiest ways to entertain. Here are 5 ideas to help you host a Fall Backyard Bonfire Party.
The air is crisp and autumn’s arrival is finally here. Fall is the absolute perfect time of the year to take advantage of the cool nights, and starry skies and make memories around the fire pit with friends.
There is nothing quite like the warmth and fun of sitting around a fire to turn an autumn evening into a memorable night with friends. This casual get-together looks like a fully planned party without all the fuss and prep work.
One of my goals for the year was to work on intentionally celebrating and connecting with friends. As our lives get busier and we find ourselves rushing from one thing to the next it’s more important than ever to slow down and enjoy the simple things.
Getting together with friends doesn’t have to be time-consuming or expensive. I’m here to show you how to simplify your get-togethers this fall with ease and convenience.
How to Host a Backyard Bonfire Party
Turn an autumn evening into a comfy and cozy get-together with beer, bites, and a blazing bonfire.
Autumn Ambiance
Create an autumn-inspired atmosphere and bring in hay bales for seating. Cover them in blankets to give them a pop of fall color and make them nice and comfy to sit on.
Add pumpkins and double your fireside glow by placing candles throughout your fire pit area. While the fire produces quite a bit of light, string additional lights around your fire pit to ensure enough light for guests to see the food and where to set down their drinks.
Turn Up the Heat
Build a fire and turn up the heat, but let’s talk safety first. This backyard bonfire won’t be like the raging bonfire of your college days, it should be modest and contained. It’s important to choose a spot away from your home and make sure there is a solid, fireproof barrier around the fire pit area. Keep a fire extinguisher on hand just in case and be sure to snuff out the fire completely at the end of the night.
Get Cozy
The perfect backyard bonfire would not be complete without warm and comfy blankets. Gather up plaid throws and blankets and place them on chairs and in baskets around the fire pit. This way as the evening chill sets in everyone can stay warm and cozy throughout the party.
Bonfire Bites
Apart from enjoying the warm glow of the bonfire, your backyard get-together isn’t a success without some yummy bonfire bites. Keep things simple and serve small bites like fire-grilled pizza, potato skins, and brats. Fill containers with snacks like popcorn or chips that guests can grab and munch on throughout the night.
Fill a wooden crate with all the essentials you’ll need for entertaining like plates, cups, and napkins so you don’t have to keep running back inside to get things. Chinet brand products are some of my favorite products to use for outdoor entertaining because they are known for more than just their durability, they are also both elegant and environmentally conscious.
Of course, s’mores are a must! Fill a tray with a variety of graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows so everyone can toast their own s’mores creations. Be sure to have plenty of napkins and wet wipes to clean up sticky hands.

Hey! Where’d you get the hay bales? We’re doing this theme for a party and can’t find them anywhere. Thanks!

Hi! I actually called my local farm and feed store and asked if they had the straw hay bales in stock. You could also check with a nursery, I’ve bought them from Calloway’s Nursery before too. Hope that helps.
