One of the daily themes during our teacher appreciation week is flowers. My “Thanks for Helping Me Grow” flower pot I made a few years ago is still one of my favorite teacher appreciation gifts. And one of my most popular posts, which means lots of you out there like it too!
So I asked my friend Carli with Dimpleprints to make me a “Thanks for Helping Me Grow” gift card tag so I could update my flower pot gift and we could give it to my daughter’s teacher on flower day.
I recreated the same flower pot using my previous tutorial, which you can find here. Then I planted some flowers in the pot.
I attached a gift card to the free printable from Dimpleprints and secured it to a bamboo skewer. I stuck the stick down in the flowers and now we have a thank you gift that shows our teacher just how much we appreciate her!
Teachers really do help students grow and I hope you’ll take the time to say thank you to the special teachers in your child’s life. In case you missed it I also shared ideas and free printables for teacher appreciation gifts here, here, here and here! Which gift do you think your teacher would appreciate the most?

What kind/type of paint do you use for the pot?

Amy, I’ve done them a few different ways. I’ve used chalkboard spray paint, chalkboard paint and just plain black acrylic craft paint, they all work great and allow you to write on them with chalk.

Such a cute idea!
Question:
What type of gift card would be appropriate, movies, dinner, Costco – and money wise, what would be a considerate amount, but sincere. Is it proper etiquette to even give a gift card to teacher? Thanks!!
Mariah says
Thanks. Teachers love gift cards, they are practical gifts they can use! If you know your teachers favorite restaurant or store buying a gift card to that location is ideal, if not then you can also get a more generic card to a store like Target or a Visa card. Depending on what other gifts I am giving I like to do a gift card for $15-25.
Michele says
Could u send me the file please 🙂 thanks!

What type of paint did you use on the pot to ensure it doesn’t flake off after watering?

Hi Vanna, I used the DecoArt outdoor acrylic Patio Paint, and once the paint was dry I sprayed the entire pot with the Americana spray sealer.
