Our master bedroom is quite possibly one of my favorite rooms in the house. It is my retreat for peace and quite, it is one of the few rooms that hasn’t been taken over with toys, and that is where my favorite DIY project is…our bedding. I LOVE my bedding! This was one of my very first major projects and 5 years later I still love it! When we bought our house and moved in I couldn’t find what I wanted, so I convinced my mother to teach me to sew so I could create what I envisioned for the space, perfect. But this is also one of the rooms that has bare walls. I have a few pictures of the kids hung (although they really need to be updated), but I have been waiting to find the “perfect” art to put up. A few months ago I stumbled on this idea at Shanty2Chic and knew it would be a great project for this space.
I went to Goodwill and found this sturdy frame with potential for only $4. It had a canvas inside, but I took that out to use later for another project I have in mind.I spray painted it with Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze.I dug out some left over fabric from the bedding project and cut a piece of cardboard to fit inside the frame. I covered the cardboard with my base fabric I cut my accent fabric and hot glued it to the base fabric.I used leftover fabric and my Cricut to cut out our monogram.
