Do you love peanut butter and jelly? The classic duo made a perfect party theme for my recent Peanut Butter and Jelly Party and one of my favorite elements from this event was the DIY Peanut Garland.
This peanut garland is an inexpensive way to incorporate color and carry out the party theme. This DIY peanut garland is easy to make, grab your supplies and let’s get started.
1. You will need 1-2 bags of unshelled peanuts, 8lb monofilament, needle and scraps of fabric.
2. Thread your needle with the monofilament and begin stringing the peanuts by poking a hole through the center of the peanut.
3. After you have strung all the peanuts on tie your scraps of fabric in a pattern between the peanuts. I tied fabric between every 3-4 peanuts.
4. Hang your new DIY peanut garland on your party backdrop or you can make small versions to hang on baskets or picture frames for that extra little detail.
The beauty of this easy and inexpensive DIY peanut garland is that you can customize it and use it for a variety of party themes. Wouldn’t this be fun at a circus party, the perfect touch at an elephant themed baby shower or a whimsical photo backdrop at a kids “Lil Peanut” birthday party! What type of event would you make a peanut garland for?

The garland was my favorite lil’ detail from this adorable party!

After the party you can put this garland outside for the birds – just be sure to use non-salted peanuts to prevent dehydration.

What do you think would happen if you wanted to keep the garland? I’m making a “Peanuts” themed mini Christmas tree for my son and I don’t want to have to re-make the garland every year…. would shellacking them work do you think?
Mariah says
Hi Michelle, I actually kept that peanut garland for a year before I threw it out when we moved. I think if you spray it with a shellac and then store it in a cool, dry place it should be fine. Your tree sounds darling, I bet your soon is going to love it!

Wonderful! Thanks for your help Mariah! I think the garland is going to be the best part – I’m excited to try it!
