Bug Boxes

IMG_3396

I was recently a guest blogger on Craft Goodies and shared my tutorial for these cute little bug boxes.  In case you aren't already following Wendy over at Craft Goodies (you really should, she has lots of fun projects and ideas) I wanted to share them with you! When I was a little girl my dad made us wooden bug boxes to catch bugs.  I remember filling them with roly-poly's (pill bugs), ladybugs and caterpillars.  It was fun to create a home for the bugs with grass and twigs and watch them, … [Read more...]

‘Tweet’ Growth Chart

DSC09665

A friend saw the growth chart I made for our kiddos and commissioned me to make one for hers. She sent me a couple examples of what she was looking for and we decided on a tree/bird theme.I was a little anxious about getting started on this one, I had a vision but wasn't sure how it would turn out. Fortunately, it all came together and I think it turned out great. I like it so much I seriously considered redoing ours!First, I painted the tree, leaves and grass.Next, I painted a bird on the … [Read more...]

Day at the Zoo

DSC09296%2B%282%29

Last Saturday we bought a membership to the Dallas Zoo and today we decided to take advantage of our new passes. We met our sweet friends the Cobb boys and had a blast hanging out at the zoo.I love the fact that the kids can run around and burn off some energy all while having an educational, fun experience. The great thing about our new membership is I don't feel obligated to rush around and see everything. If the kids want to spend an hour in the Reptile House checking out the snakes and … [Read more...]

Muffin Tin Monday – Leftovers

DSC09240

Today's MTM theme was leftovers and while I had leftovers in the fridge I really didn't want to eat them today. So I took a slightly different direction (but still used some of those leftovers) and created a "Make Your Own Salad" Muffin Tin.I put lettuce in the middle of a big plate and filled the muffin tins with yummy toppings Aubrey could add to create her own salad. There was one rule - she had to use at least one item from each tin. Here is what we had for lunch:Lettuce, chicken, … [Read more...]

Time for Tea

Today was another windy day and the kids weren't very interested in playing outside. When I asked Aubrey what she wanted to do she cheerfully responded "Let's have a party" (oh, a girl after my own heart!)We pulled out the dress up suitcase, put on our favorite fancy clothes, set the table and found some yummy snacks. The kids had a blast and it was such a treat to just sit and enjoy their cute little personalities.Aubrey was the perfect hostess constantly refilling drinks (which the twins kept … [Read more...]

Hangin’ with the Boys

I was fortunate enough to meet a wonderful friend while pregnant with the twins who also had a 2 year old & was expecting twins around the same time as me. Melinda and I hit it off immediately and our children are perfect playmates. We are definitely a site to see when we get together...6 kids all under the age of 3! Two crazy rambunctious 3 year olds, two sets of 1 year old twins who are into EVERYTHING and 2 mommas trying to keep everyone happy. We love our play dates with the Cobbs Boys and … [Read more...]

ONE

My mother who is a book fanatic, especially children's literature (she could open her own library, not kidding) gave me this incredible book the other day and I was completely blown away. One by Kathryn Otoshi is an amazing, beautifully told and poignant story perfect for all ages. This simple book uses colors and numbers to illustrate bullying and the power and importance of one. If you are a parent you really MUST own this book. It is perfect for my preschooler, but yet the message was … [Read more...]

St. Paddy’s Day Party

DSC09031

I love to throw parties and look for any excuse to have them...so I threw together a St. Paddy's Day party for some of our adorable friends. The weather was GORGEOUS so we threw down some blankets in the backyard, moved the grocery store outside, gathered up some sidewalk chalk and let everyone loose (11 kiddos to be exact). A party wouldn't be complete without tasty food so I put together some simple snacks to help celebrate.I printed the cupcake toppers from TomKat Studio and then used my … [Read more...]

Be My Valentine

DSC08666

We have been trying to squeeze in craft time, which has become rather sparse lately due to busy schedules, lack of planning and 3 kids running around like crazy. I recently made the decision to put the twins down 30 minutes earlier and give Aubrey the opportunity to spend some time with me doing craft projects (this is huge for me since I cherish my time during nap time!).Here are a few of the recent Valentine's projects we have done:Valentine's Musical ShakerVisit No Time for Flashcards for … [Read more...]
